[Chicago] The Purple Pig

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usLocation Review:
500 N Michigan Ave
Chicago, IL 60611

After an early morning architecture boat tour of Chicago (which by the way was AMAZING), I went along with my sister, Nelson (@BiteMeFoodBlog), and a couple of friends, for some lunch at The Purple Pig (@thepigchicago). This award winning Chicago restaurant is located right on the Magnificent Mile, only steps away from the beautiful river where we had our boat tour. The pathway leading up to the restaurant entrance iis guarded by a large black gate, proudly displaying their motto: "Cheese, Swine, & Wine". And it really doesn't get much more straight forward than that. The restaurant is a collaboration of three well established Chicago chefs, bringing some of the best home made cheeses, pork dishes, and fine wines.

[Toronto] LUMA

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usLocation Review:
330 King Street West
Toronto, Ontario

I was really excited to try out LUMA since I generally love the family of restaurants under Oliver and Bonacini. So when Winterlicious rolled around, I jumped on getting a dinner reservation. Located on the second floor of the TIFF light box, the location and venue is perfect for a date. Fancy dinner and an indie movie anyone?

After climbing a flight of stairs, we see a huge LUMA sign to reconfirm that we have gone to the right place. It was a little confusing trying to find the place! We were greeted by a hostess that takes our jackets for coat check, and then to our tables. The venue is cozy and inviting. Lots of tables, sofas, high ceilings, and windows spanning the entire wall.

[Toronto] Wvrst

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usLocation Review
609 King Street W.
Toronto, Ontario

Inspired by Munich style beer halls, Wvrst (@WVRSTbeerhall ) opened mid last year in the Toronto King West area, serving up some exotic sausages and a wide variety of beers. I've been wanting to try this place since it opened and luckily I was able to find someone who was yet to have tried it.  Thanks for coming with me Justine! In a nutshell, this place is like Oktoberfest, and now you can have it everyday at Wvrst!
