[Toronto] Ichiriki Japanese Restaurant

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usLocation Review

Situated between Yonge and Church on Bloor, Ichiriki is a inconspicuous little Japanese-run restaurant. Like most other eateries in this area, they draw a big lunch crowd from all the nearby offices. However, after-hours Ichiriki is just as lively. Aside from a seasonal omakase menu and a monthly live jazz band night, every Tuesday evening they welcome Soba Canada to take over the kitchen and serve fresh handmade authentic soba.

[Toronto] Magnum Ice Cream

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usLocation Review
11 Bloor Street West
Toronto, Ontario

Website

Over the past few weeks, you may have already seen these Magnum ice cream bars pop up on feeds of various social media outlets. I remember when I first saw it, I thought to myself "So, what's the big dealio?".

Well if you haven't heard, Magnum Ice Cream (@magnum_canada) has recently opened a pop up store in the heart of yorkville offering a customizable and indulgent experience with their premium Belgium ice cream bars. Despite the many customizable dessert shops that already exist (think Menchies, Marble Slab, etc), Magnum seems to assert itself as something special. I work around this area, and there is never a time where the line up doesn't span out the door and across several other store front entrances. Not surprising though, because this ice cream paradise is only here until August 30th. Are you lining up yet?

[Liberty Village] Raaw Sushi

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usLocation Review

171 E Liberty Street
Toronto, Ontario

Located in a corridor of the Liberty Market Building, Raaw Sushi serves up some delicious food at a reasonable price point. Everything about Raaw Sushi is a simple: the decor, the menu, the overall experience. But that is not to undermine the food. Although it was a Wagjag voucher that brought me here the first time, I've been back many times. It's a great spot in the King West area looking if you're looking some good Japanese food.

[Hong Kong] Aji Ichiban (味一番)

22-28 Hillwood Road
Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
山林道22-28號, 尖沙咀

Not to be confused with the popular Hong Kong snack chain Aji Ichiban, this post is actually about a Japanese restaurant! One of the more exciting aspects about being in Hong Kong for me, is having Japanese food. Literally being surrounded by water, there is an abundant amount of fish and other seafood, making it so affordable to have good raw fish! One of my friend's dad brought us here, and is a regular customer so he ended up making most of the ordering choices for the night.

[Markham] Old Firehall Confectionery

Review Location:
170 Main Street
Unionville, Ontario

As a followup to the disappointing reality that  Al Dente was in fact located in Mains St. Markham and not Unionville, later that evening Rob and I decided to take a stroll around the latter.. I was no stranger to the Historic Main Street Unionville area. It is so charming with its beautiful Victoria style streets, but never have I seen it so romantic as it was after sunset. It was a completely different atmosphere.

While most retail stores would be closed at this time elsewhere, most of the little shops here were still open. The stores sold a variety of interesting items and trinkets, but you could tell most people went in for the sole purpose of browsing. It was definitely the ice cream stores that brought in the most business on the warm summer night. Not being able to resist we decided to get ice cream ourselves.
